LENOX – The Stanton Viqueens scored the game’s first run, but couldn’t produce any additional offense in a 9-1 regional quarterfinal loss to Murray, Wednesday, July 10.
Murray advanced to a regional semifinal while Stanton’s season ended with a 12-11 record.
Ali Silvius walked against Murray pitcher Breianna Klein to start the game. Silvius advanced to second on a passed ball, third on a groundout and scored on a passed ball and Stanton led 1-0.
Stanton pitcher Kaitlyn Bruce kept Murray off the scoreboard in the first inning, but the Mustangs scored three runs in the second and four in the third to take control of the game.
Elise Dailey came on to pitch in the fourth for the Viqueens and gave up single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Murray’s offense produced 15 hits against Bruce and Dailey as the Mustangs improved to 26-9 on the season.
Dailey led the Stanton offense with two hits. Sami York and Hope Ogletree added one hit each.
The Viqueens lose just one senior in Shelby Brockshus.
