STANTON – The Stanton Viqueens gave up 16 hits in losing a 10-6 decision to Southwest Valley, Monday, June 10.
Southwest Valley led 5-0 early in the game. Stanton fought back to within 6-4 after five innings, but the Timberwolves scored the next four runs to put the game away.
Essex sophomore Elise Dailey started in the circle for the Viqueens and had a double offensively. Sami York had a pair of singles and drove in a run. Another Essex athlete, Brianne Johnson, ran for York twice and scored a run.
Ali Silvius led the Viqueens with three hits. She singled and scored in the third, drove in a run with a single in the fourth and singled in the sixth.
Brooklyn Adams and Marleigh Johnson had two hits each for Stanton. Adams singled in the seventh inning to drive in two runs. Johnson reached base all four times she came to the plate, scoring once. Kami Tibben singled, scored and drove in a run in the fourth.
The Timberwolves had three players with three-hit games as they earned their first win of the season in seven tries.
Stanton fell to 3-4 with the loss.
