STANTON – Stanton eighth grader Brooklyn Silva crossed the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Viqueens a 3-2 win over Orient-Macksburg, Wednesday, June 5.

The Viqueens had loaded the bases with two outs and Kami Tibben hit a comebacker to the Bulldog pitcher, who attempted to get the out at home. The catcher was unable to get the tag down giving the Viqueens their second win of the season.

Tibben’s eighth inning RBI was her first of the season.

Silva was on third as a pinch-runner for Sami York, who had two hits for the game.

The Essex sophomore batted fifth as the designated player and was 2 for 4 with a double. Ali Silvius and Marleigh Johnson scored the other two runs as Stanton improved to 2-3 on the season. Silvius also doubled.

Essex sophomore Elise Dailey started in the circle and pitched 4.1 innings. She gave up four hits and two runs, one earned, while walking two and striking out four.

Kaitlyn Bruce pitched the final 3.2 innings without giving up a hit. She walked five Bulldogs and struck out four.

The Bulldogs fell to 2-8 with the loss, their fifth in a row.
