SHENANDOAH – A thrilling Shenandoah/Red Oak baseball game lasted well into the night, but finished with no result, Tuesday, June 11.
The rain had fallen for quite some time before play was halted in the bottom of the eighth inning with the Mustangs trailing 12-8. Shenandoah has runners at the corners with one out. As of press time, no date had been set for completion of the suspended game.
The Mustangs led 4-0 after four innings, but Red Oak’s offense broke through for three runs in the fifth, three in the sixth and two in the seventh.
The Mustangs scored two runs in the fifth and then two in the seventh to force extra innings.
Cain Lorimor lasted into the seventh inning on the mound for Shenandoah. He gave up the first eight runs before Braden Knight came on in relief. Knight finished the seventh, but then gave up the first two runs in the eighth inning without getting an out before Anthony Stogdill finished the inning on the mound.
Knight, Kyle Cerven and AJ Herold scored two runs each for the Mustangs. Herold doubled and Stogdill tripled during the contest. Cerven, Herold and Stogdill all drove in two runs.
