Fremont-Mills junior Seth Malcom dominated in leading the Knights to a 58-42 win over Bedford, Friday, Oct. 4.
Malcom rushed for 336 yards and six touchdowns on 30 carries. On defense he added 15 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and an interception, which he returned for a touchdown.
The Knights played much of the game without starting quarterback Colton Hauschild, who left due to injury, but sophomore Jake Malcom stepped in and completed four of six passes for 56 yards and a score. James Switzer caught the scoring pass, from 14 yards away.
Fremont-Mills led 30-24 at halftime, but Malcom’s interception return and then two of his touchdown runs helped extend the Knight lead to 20.
The Malcom to Switzer touchdown pass extended the Knight lead to 58-36 nearing the midway point of the fourth quarter. Bedford returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, but that would end the scoring.
The Knights improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in Class 8-Man District 7. Fremont-Mills hosts East Mills in its next game, Friday, Oct. 11. East Mills is also unbeaten in the district, but the game will be the regular season finale for the Wolverines, meaning a win would give the Wolverines the district title.
Cooper Nally rushed for 170 yards and passed for another 147 with five total touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs, who fell to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the district.
