Fremont-Mills couldn’t get its offense going in a 23-0 loss at Audubon, Friday, Sept. 6.
A week after torching Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton’s defense for 267 rushing yards, the Wheeler defense held Knight running back Seth Malcom to 55 yards on 15 carries.
Joel Klocke caught a pair of touchdown passes in the first half, one from Skyler Schultes and another from Gavin Smith, to give Audubon a 12-0 lead at halftime.
Schultes added a rushing touchdown and Jackson Jensen added a field goal in the second half for the final margin. Schultes rushed for 130 yards and a score on 29 carries.
Knights quarterback Colton Hauschild completed 5 of 15 passes for 76 yards with two interceptions. He also rushed for 31 yards on 10 carries.
James Switzer, Daniel Vanatta and Eli Owen all had a catch for the Knights, who fell to 1-1 with the loss.
Malcom led the Knight defense with 9.5 total tackles and two tackles for loss. Hauschild added eight tackles while Switzer had 7.5.
Fremont-Mills now has two consecutive weeks off as Clarinda Academy and Essex were on the original schedule to be the next two opponents. The next game for the Knights is the district opener, Friday, Sept. 27 at home against Griswold.
Audubon improved to 2-1.
