TARKIO – Sidney junior Noah Jorgenson won the Indian Cross Country Run and led the Cowboys to the team title, Monday, Sept. 10.
Jorgenson finished in 17 minutes, 13 seconds, winning the meet by 64 seconds, and led Sidney to a total of 41 points, 46 better than runner-up Northwest Nodaway.
The Cowboys had four of the top nine finishers with Cole Jorgenson taking fourth in 19:02, Starson Lovett was eighth in 20:08 and Jaden Sears ninth just 10 seconds behind Lovett
Michael Benedict was the final scorer for the Cowboys, running a 22:01 to take 19th. Kyle Beam and Connery Lucas rounded out the varsity runners for the Cowboys.
Sidney competed for the first time in nearly three weeks and did so without senior leader Adam Thompson, who has just recently started to run again after resting a leg injury.
Savannah Hall led the Sidney girls, finishing seventh with a time of 23:27.
The Cowgirls were fourth in the team race with 83 points.
Rock Port and St. Joe Christian both had the low team score with 53 points, and did so with exactly five runners. Ashley Riley of Platte Valley won the race by more two minutes.
Camryn McClintock was next fastest for Sidney, taking 14th in a time of 27:31. Caitlynn Rasco just broke the 30-minute barrier finishing 19th.
Danica Laumann and Sophie White completed the Cowgirl scorers and the team.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls were originally set to run in Red Oak Monday, but that meet was cancelled due to wet grounds.
Sidney cross country has added an additional meet to the original schedule. The Cowboys and Cowgirls will run in Falls City, Neb. Thursday, Oct. 4.
