LENOX – The season ended for Fremont-Mills softball, Wednesday, July 10, in a 12-2 loss to Lenox in a Class 1A Region 3 quarterfinal.
The number 14 Tigers moved on to a regional semifinal while the Knights’ season ended at 11-15.
The game was called in the sixth inning due to the run rule.
The Tigers wasted no time taking control of the game, scoring five runs in the first inning. They added two in the second prompting Knights coach Kyle Fichter to remove Kendall Reed from the circle and bring on Malea Moore. The Tigers added two in the fourth for a 9-0 advantage.
Fremont-Mills responded with single runs against Lenox pitcher TJ Stoaks in the fifth and sixth innings. Reed and Taylor Morgan scored the runs for the Knights and Chloe Johnson drove in a run
Lenox scored three runs in the sixth to end the game early.
The Knights had five hits off of Stoaks, who struck out 13.
The Knights lose two seniors in Sophia Murphy and Emma Jahnke.
Lenox improved to 26-6.
