Fremont-Mills is ranked 13th in the initial football playoff RPI standings, released Monday, Oct. 7 by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.

The RPI is used to determine the at-large qualifiers that will qualify for the playoffs in all six classes. Each district champion will automatically qualify.

The RPI uses a team’s winning percentage, a team’s opponents’ composite winning percentage and a team’s opponents’ opponents’ composite winning percentage to determine the RPI number ranging between .0000 and 1.000 (higher is better).

The Knights have an RPI of .5947 and are 13th in Class 8-Man. This week’s opponent, East Mills, is ninth.

Stanton/Essex and Sidney are right next to each other in 42nd and 43rd in Class 8-Man. The Vikings are at .4249 and the Cowboys .4199.

Also, in Class 8-Man District 7, Bedford is 33rd and Griswold 60th out of 62 teams.

Shenandoah is 34th out of 54 Class 2A schools with an RPI of .4463. The Mustangs have the third best number in the district, trailing only the two unbeatens. OABCIG is fifth and Greene County sixth in Class 2A. The Mustangs host OABCIG Friday.

Elsewhere in Class 2A District 9, Atlantic is 37th, Kuemper Catholic is 42nd and Red Oak 50th.

Updated RPI standings will be released the next two Mondays by the IHSAA. The final tally will be released along with the playoff pairings, Saturday, Oct. 26 after the final week of the regular season.
