Class 1A and 2A baseball teams from across the state found out their path to the state tournament, Friday, June 14 as the Iowa High School Athletic Association released district and substate assignments.

Shenandoah will be in Class 2A District 15 and will be joined by Hawkeye 10 Conference rivals Clarinda and Red Oak. Western Iowa Conference powers Treynor, Tri-Center and Underwood make up the rest of the district. Treynor is ranked number 4 from the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association, Underwood is receiving votes and Tri-Center was a state qualifier a year ago.

Number 10 Hinton and MVAOCOU, who is receiving votes, look to be top teams in District 16. The District 15 champion and District 16 champion will play in a substate final. Alta/Aurelia, Cherokee Washington, Missouri Valley and OABCIG complete the district.

Essex/South Page, Fremont-Mills and Sidney are together in a nine-team District 14 of Class 1A. Corner Conference rivals East Mills and Stanton are also in the district along with AHSTW, Logan-Magnolia, Riverside and St. Albert, who is receiving votes in the Class 1A poll.

Corner Conference rival Griswold is in the other half of the substate in District 13, along with Bedford, East Union, Lamoni, Lenox, number 4 Martensdale-St. Marys, Murray and Southwest Valley.

Class 1A first round district games are scheduled for, Thursday, July 11 with district quarterfinals in both classes two days later. District semifinals are July 16, district finals July 20 and substate finals July 23.

District tournament pairings will be released closer to the beginning of the tournament.
