RED OAK – Sidney scored the game’s first run, but gave up the rest in an 11-1 loss to Red Oak, Tuesday, July 9.

The game was called in the fifth inning due to the run rule.

Sidney struck first when Zayne Osborn doubled with two outs in the first against Tiger starting pitcher Carter Bruce. Osborn took third on a wild pitch and then scored on Brett Gruber’s single.

Red Oak didn’t score in the first inning against Sidney starting pitcher Jaden Sears, but put up multiple runs in each of the final four innings.

The Tigers scored three runs on three hits in the second. They added two runs on two hits in the third. A couple walks started Red Oak’s fourth inning and both turned into runs. Red Oak added three runs in the fifth to end the game early with Bruce supplying the game-ending hit.

Dawson Bond led the Tigers with three hits.

The hits by Osborn and Gruber in the first inning were the only two Cowboy hits of the game.

Sidney’s regular season ended with a 7-14 record.
