Stanton dominated first team honors as the Corner Conference released its all-conference baseball teams, Wednesday, July 17.
Essex/South Page ended up with two first team selections in junior Colton Thornburg as an elite outfielder and senior Daniel Ohnmacht as a utility selection.
Thornburg batted .311 for the Trojans with a team-leading 14 runs scored and 20 stolen bases.
Ohnmacht hit for a .257 average and took a team-best 16 walks. He also stole 18 bases. Ohnmacht also led the Trojans on the mound. He was the winning pitcher for both team wins and struck out 33 with a 2.26 ERA in 43 1/3 innings.
Fremont-Mills senior Dylan Chambers was selected as a first team infielder. He hit .347 with 19 runs scored and 11 RBIs. His 18 stolen bases led the team. He was also second on the team’s pitching staff, mainly out of relief, in innings pitched and strikeouts.
There were three Stanton Vikings picked as elite all-conference in sophomore Colby Royal at pitcher and senior infielders Drake Johnson and Donnie Weis. Junior outfielder Keygan Day and junior utility Tyler Peterson were also named to the first team for the Vikings.
The other three first team selections played for East Mills. Senior Trevor Glockel was an elite selection at catcher. Juniors Nic Duysen (infield) and Michael Schafer (outfield) were also selected.
Sidney’s didn’t have anyone on the first team, but the Cowboys ended up with four second team selections in seniors Justis Hayes (pitcher) and Zayne Osborn (utility) and juniors Cale Phillips (catcher) and Brett Gruber (infield).
Essex/South Page freshman Quentin Thornburg was a utility selection to the second team.
Fremont-Mills seniors Jacob Jenkerson and Oscar Lupercio were named to the second team as well, Jenkerson at infield and Lupercio in the outfield.
The other second team selections were Griswold junior Derek Mueller, East Mills sophomore Jackson Wray and Stanton freshman Carter Johnson at infield and Griswold senior Josh Brownlee and Stanton senior Thomas Bates in the outfield.
The conference gave three additional athletes honorable mention recognition. They were Essex/South Page senior Jake Gray at catcher, Fremont-Mills sophomore Seth Malcom in the outfield and Sidney freshman Garett Phillips in the infield.
