BEDFORD – Stanton scored seven runs in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth in a 15-8 win over Bedford, Thursday, June 13.

Stanton trailed 5-3 entering the fifth inning, but the first four reached in the frame. Ali Silvius singled, and then Hope Ogletree and Shelby Brockshus had consecutive bunt singles to load the bases. Devin Isaacson followed with an RBI single and then Sami York drove in a run with a groundout. After consecutive walks scored one more run, an error and a hit by pitch plated two more. Silvius singled for the second time, driving in two, before the final two outs were recorded.

The first six reached base in the sixth inning for the Viqueens on four hits and two errors. Kaitlyn Bruce singled in a run and Kami Tibben doubled. After a groundout, the next three reached for the Viqueens. Only two of the runs were earned in the sixth.

Silvius started the game in the circle and pitched into the second when Bedford scored five runs. Bruce came in from there and finished the game, not allowing any runs until the Bulldogs plated two in the home sixth to extend the game. They added one more in the seventh for the final margin.

Silvius and Isaacson had three hits each to lead the Viqueens while Silvius and Bruce drove in three runs.

Essex’s York reached base once, drove in a run and scored once.

Stanton improved to 5-4 with the win. The Viqueens have won four of their last five.

The loss ended Bedford’s three-game winning streak and dropped the Bulldogs to 4-7.
