SIDNEY – Jaden Sears drove in Cale Phillips with Sidney’s only run as the Cowboys lost 8-1 to AHSTW, Friday, July 5.

The run came in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Vikings already enjoying a 7-0 lead.

Phillips and Garett Phillips led the Cowboys with two hits each and Sears stole two bases as Sidney fell to 6-13 on the season.

Sears also started on the mound for the Cowboys and gave up two runs in the second inning and another two in the third. He lasted 2.2 innings and gave up six hits and four earned runs while striking out two.

Garett Phillips walked seven in giving up three hits and four earned runs in 3.2 innings. He struck out four. Brett Gruber recorded the final two outs without surrendering a run.

Clayton Akers and Lane Nelson combined to strike out 12 Cowboys as the Vikings improved to 10-10 on the season.
