Site for new VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in Shenandoah

Officials from the Veterans Administration’s Nebraska-Western Iowa Health System announced that the site for the new Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic for Shenandoah will be located at 2041 A Avenue.

Lavastida Development LLC from Norman, Oklahoma, has been selected to oversee the construction of the VA clinic.

When completed, the new VA clinic will include more than 9,700 square feet that will include a variety of medical services including primary care, telehealth, tele-retinal, lab, hearing aid fitting, mental health and group therapy. The new clinic will be approximately 6,400 square feet larger than the current Shenandoah clinic and will include advanced capabilities for telemedicine to mitigate the need for local Veterans to travel for specialty care such as pre-op screening or dermatology.

“We are extremely excited to begin this new chapter of VA medical care in Shenandoah and provide a new level of care for our nation’s Veterans,” said B. Don Burman, director of the VA NWHICS. “As we all know, the medical field has changed dramatically over the past few decades. This new clinic will enable our Veterans to continue to receive outstanding care utilizing new, state-of-the-art technologies both today and long into the future.”

Construction is expected to begin on the new clinic in the near future. It is expected to be complete sometime in late 2020 or early 2021.
