The Essex School Board appointed Lori Racine as a new school board member at a special meeting on June 12. Racine was one of two applicants who applied for the position.
Last month, after board member Dustin Frank resigned, the Essex School board was faced with appointing another new member. Frank served on the school board for six years. The school board thanked him for his many years of service. Racine will complete Frank’s term and have the opportunity to be re-elected into the position once the current term ends. All board members except Tyler Johnson are up for re-election in November, 2019.
In other news, the school board made the decision to contact Superintendent Wells of Hamburg School District to set a date to interview for the sharing of the superintendent position in Essex. Red Oak School District superintendent asked to be removed for consideration of the position; however, the districts will continue sharing academic opportunities for the 2019 – 2020 school year. School districts are required to settle operational sharing agreements by June 30.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for June 19 at 6:00 p.m.
